Good Samaritan History

The organization's name is derived from the Biblical parable of the Good Samaritan. The story of The Good Samaritan is found in Luke 10: 25-37

Good Samaritan of Tullahoma and its programs began over fifty year ago, formally known as The School Guidance Council overseen by a group of caring people who had concern for the less fortunate. As volunteers, they worked to reach out, after all these years we continue that tradition.

The Ministerial group made up of some far-sighted pastor's saw the need for a more organized effort and began to make some needed changes to the work already being done.

We were chartered in 1985 as a non-profit 501 (c) 3 Charitable Organization, as a way for churches of all denominations, local businesses and citizens to have a centralized location to provide assistance to those in our community in crisis situations.

Formally know as the Tullahoma Funeral  Home, The Good Samaritan currently calls this our home. Located at 210 E. Grundy St. Tullahoma TN 37388

Good Samaritan Mission Statement

Our mission at Good Samaritan is to provide assistance to families in need and crisis situations, to offer counseling about services available from other social agencies in our community, and offer guidance about household management.

We invest in seeing lives changed; working to break the cycles of dependency among those who are able bodied to work, by first finding the underling causes of those who have become dependent upon the community assistance programs.

Good Samaritan Vision Statement

The future of The Good Samaritan of Tullahoma requires us to go beyond our current accomplishments, and look to improve our abilities to support our clients. This means we must continue to serve those in need but, also to recognize as Tullahoma continues to grow we need to have the ability to meet future demands. We will form new partnerships, expand and support other non-profit organizations, and make critical decisions that are key to our success. Most importantly, we will focus on working together, in order to help those in need have a better, fuller life.
